A Long Night

Last night was rough. We drove to Aix-en-Provence and had a terrible time finding a hotel or a parking space or a friendly person. The traffic in the city was horrible. Our newer rental car is too big for the tiny city streets. In Normandy, we had a citroen C3...this time they gave us a C5 because they didn't have any of the smaller ones when we got to the rental desk. This is considered an upgrade for the same price but it really is a pain to have a larger american-sized auto in France. The car has a great digital compass and GPS unit that helps navigate a little, but we miss our tiny C3.

Anyways...people were rude, the city seemed shady, and nothing was going right. We ate a couple of sandwiches and decided to get back on the road to find a hotel. We drove for what seemed like forever and it was just getting later and later. Nothing seemed open at 11 pm. Finally, we found a little hotel/restaurant in what I believe is Le Luc. It's a great place. The staff is friendly and we just had a nice breakfast. The plan is to drive down to the Mediterranean coast and head towards Nice. Hopefully we'll have better luck there.

yeah we went into a hotel to see if they had a room available. the lady had attitude but offered to help us find a room at another hotel if we waited (they were full). so we sat and waited as she totally chatted with her friend and ignored us until we got annoyed and left. was annoying that she offered...and then just completely ignored us. we were literally sitting about 3 feet away from her reception desk as she just did her nails.
